But I found two tricks that helped me get things done.
Every bit counts. Tracking the effort spent on a task helped me feel a sense of accomplishment. This helped me stick with it for longer.
We naturally tend to think of our days in blocks (e.g. before lunch, after work). Planning ahead using these blocks helped me mentally prepare myself and get to work when the time came.
These two tricks are the heart of Before lunch.
Keep track of tasks and projects
Plan your day in customisable blocks
Schedule repeating tasks and projects
Use the pomodoro technique
Track effort with ticks and pomodoro counts
Across devices
All your tasks, projects, schedules and plans can be loaded on any device with a browser
On mobile
You can add the site to the home screen on your smartphone and it will work just like a regular app
Offline
The site loads even when you are offline
I struggled to do things regularly for most of my life.
During a covid lockdown, I built a small app that let me count the days on which I completed the tasks I planned. Surprisingly, this helped me stick these tasks for longer. So I built another app and tried more ideas for improving my consistency.
After 3 years of experimenting, Before lunch is the result. It contains all the ideas that helped me get things done. Perhaps it can help you too.
